I had heard a rumor that the Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kizame Osaka Nipponbashi Branch, which opened on January 28, 2023, was extremely popular, and one weekend morning I went to Ebisucho, where the restaurant is located, to see if the rumor was true or not. But something completely unexpected happened that day…
The queue was well over 50 people long an hour before opening… The popularity of the Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kizame Osika Nipponbashi Branch may now be even greater than the Head Shop in Shimo-Shinjo?
First of all, please take a look at the image below…

This is what it looked like when I arrived at the restaurant one hour before opening… Isn’t it amazing? It’s a little hard to tell since the picture was taken from a distance, but the first line is at the back right, then the line extends to the left, turns around at the end of the sidewalk, and the first line is at the end of the line. I guess there were at least 50 people in the line at a glance… The waiting time, including the time until the store opened, was well over 2 hours, and I was hoping to be the first one in line an hour before, but this was totally unexpected. I was carrying a big baggage that day, so I gave up that day in tears and went home after having lunch at a nearby Pommier. About three months later, I made up my mind, “I will definitely go there today! ” I headed to the Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kakume Osaka Nipponbashi Branch this time on a weekday evening. I arrived at the restaurant a little after 8:00 p.m. The line at the storefront at that time looked like this…

Compared to the line three months ago, the line has grown even longer back. There were probably close to 70 people in line… I guess the waiting time would easily exceed an hour. It’s been a long time since I’ve waited in line for such a long time… I’ve experienced it a few times at local restaurants like Tora Shokudo, but I can hardly remember the last time in the middle of Osaka where there are so many other options. Well, that’s OK. Let’s go out with them today. “It’s three hours until closing time, so I should be able to get in before then,” I thought to myself. I was guided to one of the 14 seats at the L-shaped counter two hours later at around 10:15 p.m. The popularity of this restaurant may be even greater than the Head Shop in Shimo-Shinjo.
Incidentally, after 9:00 p.m. that night, a red cone was placed at the end of the line saying “End of the day” and the power of the ticket vending machine inside the restaurant was turned off. If you are thinking of visiting at night, we recommend that you get there by 9:00 p.m. at the latest.
Junky looking as it should be… How was it to try the Pork W Soupless Ramen at Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kizame Osaka Nipponbashi Branch?
Let me introduce you to the Pork W Soupless Ramen that I ordered at the Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kizame Osaka Nipponbashi Branch (price: 1,450 yen including tax). The standard amount of noodles is 300g, and the call is “increased amount of garlic and vegetables”…

It took only a little over 5 minutes from the time I was seated to receive my bowl, partly because they took my order while I was waiting in line. With blocks of pork, fried chips, and a lot of black pepper, it is as janky as it looks. This visual reminded me of a time three years ago, when I had had the Pork W Soupless Ramen at Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kizame Neyagawa. I remember that time, the back fat became too much and I was able to finish it but just barely. I’m glad I didn’t choose “increased umount of back fat” this time… Oh, yes, Rekishi wo Kizame has a rule that no leftovers are allowed for “more than 400g of noodles and extra increased amount of vegetables”, so be sure to order enough to finish your meal.

Now, after thinking a bit about where to start eating from this bowl of rice, I decided to start with the pork chunks, which were cut into cubes of about 5 cm each. Most of the pork was reddish, which gave it a firm texture and a wild meaty flavor.

Then, I pulled out the noodles that became visible through the gaps and put them in my mouth. The noodles are very thick and hard-boiled, and also have a great texture. Of course, the noodles are chewy, but the chaos of the soy sauce sauce, garlic, black pepper, and fried chips is also irresistible. By the way, this time…

Osaka Nipponbashi Branch-only flavor modifier, Second Impact (price 50 yen including tax), was ordered along with the soup, but it was probably not necessary because this soupless ramen is originally very strong in flavor. It is a dry soy sauce sauce with green onions, sesame seeds, etc., and is said to be designed to make the yasai tastier.
This time, I did not choose the increased amount of back fat option, so I easily finished the 300 g Pork W Soupless Ramen, and I got my revenge for almost giving up three years ago in Neyagawa. In fact, I prefer regular ramen to soup-less ramen, but sometimes I want this stimulation… The two-hour wait was tough, but I’m glad to see that this is now available in Nihonbashi.

Jiro-inspired ramen accompaniments are also sold in the storefront…The Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kizame Osaka Nipponbashi Branch is a 2-minute walk from the nearest station, Ebisucho Station on the OsakaMetro Sakaisuji Line.
The Ramen-sou Rekishi wo Kizame Osaka Nipponbashi Branch has a vending machine in the storefront where customers can buy black oolong tea to accompany their Jiro or Inspire-style Ramen.
