When I had a morning at a coffee shop called Umeda Coffee House New YC in Shin-Umeda Shokudo Gai before, I learned that there is another coffee house called Umeda Coffee House YC just around the corner, and I was curious what kind of place it is. This cafe is also open early every day and offers a special morning service every morning from 7:00 to 11:00.
One weekend morning before work, I went there to try the morning service to get myself in the mood. However, when I got there, things were a little different than at the New YC…
Umeda Coffee House YC is a great place for morning coffee, especially on weekends…
I arrived at Umeda Coffee House YC around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday when the store opened, and it seems that I was the first to arrive. I walked up the stairs from the entrance to the seating area on the second floor, and the waiter said, “Take your seats!” and I was given the pleasant bonus of being able to choose from among the 64 seating areas available according to the restaurant’s Tabelog information.
The interior of the restaurant is retro-classic, just like New YC, and has the atmosphere of a coffee shop built in a cave. Smoking is allowed, jazz music plays in the background, and the very adult atmosphere is no different from that of New YC. However, perhaps it was just a coincidence that this was the day, but the number of customers was much smaller than at the New YC. When I peeked into New YC after I left the store, it was almost full, whereas YC had only about 10 customers until I left the store…maybe the difference in the pedestrian traffic in front of the store had something to do with it? Perhaps this Umeda Coffee House YC is quite a secret spot for people who want to spend a quiet weekend morning. On the other hand, on weekdays, businessmen pass by the place so it might be a bit chaotic…
Is the morning set of Umeda Coffee House YC any different from the set of New YC, an affiliate of the Umeda Coffee House YC?
Let me introduce the Umeda Coffee House YC morning set I ordered this time in detail. Like New YC, there are two types of morning sets: a toast set that includes boiled eggs, salad, fruit, and a drink (coffee or tea, hot or cold), and a daily toast set that includes the bread of the day, priced at 650 yen and 700 yen, respectively, including tax. The system itself is the same, but the contents of the daily set differed between the two restaurants. The daily special on this day was the “Meat Sauce Dog” at YC, while it was the “Ham Pizza” at New YC, so…

This is what the daily special set I ordered this time looked like. The main bread is different, but the salad, boiled egg, and drink (coffee or tea) are exactly the same at both locations. There is also a slight difference in the morning service hours. While New YC opens at 6:30 a.m., allowing customers to enter 30 minutes earlier, the morning service ends at 10:00 a.m., one hour earlier than at YC. It is a good idea to choose which restaurant to go to based on these differences in menus and serving times.

This meat sauce dock is heated to the point that the surface is lightly crispy, and when putting it in the mouth, along with the crispy texture, the aroma of wheat and the smoky smell of sausage drift together from the mouth to the nose. The meat sauce on the sausage can be described in one word: “the Showa era” meat sauce. It may seem a little cheap, but it also evokes a sense of nostalgia, which is a good thing.

This hot coffee, as always, is light and ideal for a cup in the morning. Hot coffee that feels fruity for a moment and then immediately enters the body is a perfect cup for the body after waking up from sleep. The coffee beans used in this coffee can be purchased at the cash register. However, the coffee beans are more fully stocked at New YC, so if you are looking for coffee beans to take out, I would recommend moving to New YC rather than buying them here.
Refills of coffee or tea are as low as 280 yen… Access to Umeda Coffee House YC is a one-minute walk from the nearest station, JR Osaka Station.
Umeda Coffee House YC offers a discount of 280 yen for the second cup of coffee or tea only when ordering a drink of 500 yen or less per cup….

Everyone has their own taste preferences, but I love the hot coffee here, so I appreciate this service immensely. It is a little disappointing that smoking is allowed, but other than that, the place is very comfortable, and with two cups of coffee, I can stay here for more than an hour at a time. Especially on weekend mornings, I think this is a great place to spend a quiet morning, so please give it a try. However, please keep in mind that the cafe has a 90-minute service time limit.
