Takagi Coffee is a popular cafe that opened in November 2020 in a slightly inconvenient location in Ibaraki, Osaka. It is one of the sister stores of belle-ville pancake cafe, which I introduced in this blog before, and has become very popular among the locals because its famous fluffy pancakes can be eaten in Ibaraki.
I visited Takagi Coffee Ibaraki Branch one weekend afternoon to try the immoral pancakes, which are even better than the mille-feuille pancakes I had at belle-ville pancake cafe. If there is a place nearby where you can eat pancakes like these all year round, I’m sure people wouldn’t leave it alone…
It’s not so easy to get in after all… This is what the waiting time was like at Takagi Coffee Ibaraki Branch one Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m….
I visited Takagi Coffee Ibaraki Branch at around 2 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon. When I went through the entrance of the store, there was a numbered ticket machine on the right side. The number of waiting pairs is 9, which means that I was the 10th person in the queue. “It is not so easy to get in…” I felt. However, the turnover of customers was unexpectedly fast for a café, and I was able to enter the restaurant in about 20 minutes after taking a numbered ticket.

According to the official information, Takagi Coffee Ibaraki Branch has a total of 58 seats. Not only indoor table seating, but also all-weather terrace seating is available, and pets can be brought along if you ask the staff. The restaurant is also designed to be comfortable, with high ceilings that make it feel less cramped. Free Wi-Fi and power supply are not provided, so working with a PC is limited, but the atmosphere is very comfortable for a relaxing café time with the family.
If you like desserts, you won’t leave this one alone… How was the “Strawberry and Mixed Berry Pancake” on Takagi Coffee Ibaraki Branch’s ultra-immoral dessert menu when I actually tried it?
Let me introduce to you the “Strawberry and Mixed Berry Pancakes,” the ultra-immoral dessert menu item I ordered at Takagi Coffee Ibaraki Branch on this particular day. This pancake is available in two or four pieces, depending on your preference, and if you choose four pieces, the price is 1,290 yen plus tax….

It took about 20 minutes after ordering. The strawberry and mixed berry pancakes that arrived in front of me. The pancakes look different from the mille-feuille pancakes I had at belle-ville pancake cafe. It was more like a modern airy pancake…

When I put a knife into the pancake, I found that the inside of the pancake was not juicy, but rather the chocolate and melted vanilla ice cream in the space between the pancakes flowed out. So, this pancake is completely different from millefeuille pancakes.Well, but the fluffiness is still amazing. And the chocolate and cream that flowed down the cross section of the pancake also made it moist. The pancake itself is not very sweet, but the surrounding stuff is more than enough to provide you with a good amount of sugar. The sourness of the strawberries and berries also adds to the sweetness of the pancakes, and the mouth-feel you get from these pancakes is as good as it looks. This is the kind of pancake that “dessert lovers won’t leave alone…”.

【Bonus】The extra item I ordered with this pancake was the “Takagi Original Blend” (450 yen + tax). In contrast to the sweet and sour pancake, this coffee was quite bitter. One sip of this will reset any remaining sweetness in the mouth so that the next bite of pancake can be enjoyed in a fresh way again. The coffee claims to be “blended to go best with pancakes,” and I think it is the perfect accompaniment to pancakes.
