If you want to start your morning feeling rich and energized, there is a place in Nagoya Station…
The Gatehouse|Buffet morning with a spectacular view from the 15th floor of a building directly connected to JR Nagoya Station
The Gatehouse is a French restaurant belonging to the JR Gate Tower Hotel directly connected to JR Nagoya Station. Hotel guests can get a discount if they purchase a coupon and make a reservation at least one day in advance, but even non-guests can use the restaurant for 2,700 yen per adult (tax included).
The restaurant offers a total of 120 Japanese and Western buffet dishes, all prepared under the supervision of the chef who owns a popular French restaurant in Tokyo. This chef has been selected as one of the best young chefs in the world by an overseas gourmet magazine, and his skills are well documented. What would you call this breakfast supervised by such a chef for only 2,700 yen?
And it is not only the food that you can enjoy at this restaurant…
On a fine day, you can enjoy a spectacular view overlooking Nagoya city, or…
You can spend a leisurely morning while relaxing in the green courtyard.
The Gatehouse’s special egg sandwich, limited to one per person and made with a rich Nagoya Cochin egg, is an absolute must!
The Gatehouse’s most popular morning meal is this…
This special egg sandwich is made with eggs from Nagoya Cochin, and can only be found here. The pureed egg is so fluffy and tender that it feels like eating custard cream. The rich egg flavor is shocking.
If you like egg sandwiches, you will love this one…no wonder it is limited to one per person.
In a way, the morning curry culture was born in Aichi…the morning curry served at The Gatehouse has a very gentle, healing taste!
As a luxury hotel in Nagoya, the breakfast buffet naturally includes Nagoya delicacies. On this day, fried shrimp and chicken wings were served. Hitsumabushi and yakishimen may also be served on different days.
But what impressed me the most on the menu that day was this “Morning Curry with Beef Sinew”…
When the recently retired Ichiro was playing in the Major Leagues, “morning curry” was popular for a while. Ichiro is from Aichi, and perhaps it was inevitable that his hometown would offer morning curry.
So, this morning curry is a spicy curry that refreshes your mind from the morning! But it is quite the opposite. It has a very gentle taste.
The curry is sweet and not in the least bit spicy, as if it is waiting for you to wake up. The beef tenderloin meat is also stewed slowly, so even on the morning of a hangover, you can feel it settle into your stomach easily and comfortably.
Unfortunately, I had an 8:30 a.m. appointment that day, so I had to time out after a 30-minute stay. When I have breakfast in such a pleasant environment, I would like to cancel my morning work and relax if possible…
If possible, I’d like to forget about work and enjoy a relaxing morning… The Gatehouse is located on the 15th floor of the Nagoya JR Gate Tower Hotel, directly connected to JR Nagoya Station
Here are the details of the restaurant…
