The Kitchen Gong Nishijin Branch is located in a somewhat inconvenient location, but it has two branches in the city, making it easy for those who cannot make it to Nishijin to enjoy Pinellais.
First, let’s start with the first restaurant, Kitchen Gon Rokkaku. It is located along Rokkaku-dori, a slightly less popular street north of Karasuma on Kyoto’s main artery, Shijo-dori.
The interior has the same classical atmosphere as the Nishijin restaurant. However, the seating arrangement seems to be more spacious than at the Nishijin branch.
Demi-glace sauce, the life of a Western restaurant… Kitchen Gong’s demi-glace sauce is somewhat light, and the beef, vegetables, and red wine blend together to create a mild, deep flavor. This is a luxury for Western food fans, as it is poured generously over the top of the pinet rice. Personally, I prefer demi-pineapple rice to curry pineapple rice.
Easy access from downtown Kyoto… Kitchen Gong Rokkaku Head Shop is a 7-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway.
